Too many people have too many definitions of what leadership is and is not. What we should do and not do in order to become outstanding leaders and missing the most basic and important point altogether. Being able to give excellent definitions of leadership does not necessarily make the presenter an excellent leader.
Real leaders, however, according to my observation, don't over-define what leadership should or should not mean. If I can use words to capture what really effective leaders do in exercising their leadership, it is this - "A true leader is someone who is most exceptional in leading him/herself and at the same time, exceptional in helping others lead themselves (usually only when others approach him/her for help)."
