The things that stand between you and your goals are nothing but habits, adversities, nuisance and distractions.
Successful people focus on developing the right habits. Less successful ones focus only on setting goals.
How to stop your habits from being obstacles? Replace the wrong habits with the right ones.
"I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has had to overcome while trying to succeed." A quote by Booker T. Washington
Sometimes, when the adversities aren't great enough, we aren't resolved enough to overcome them. Sometimes, the things that really killed us can be those that seem totally harmless. Steve 'Crocodile Hunter' Irwin was not killed by a crocodile, he was killed by the usually passive and unsuspecting stingray. Jackie Chan's most serious and life threatening injury to date was his fall from a snapped tree branch to which he was hanging on was just twelve feet above ground instead of his trademark stunts involving high speed and great heights!
So, when the adversity is not so great as to forcing you to up your ante, you better watch out for the little nitty gritty stuff that prevent you from achieving your goal.
When the going gets tough, the tough gets going. When the going is smooth, the tough never got tough but eventually got distracted. So, we'd better watch out when things are too smooth-going!
